A certificate is provided by the Woodland Trust confirming the amount of CO2 captured and the area of new native woodland that has been planted.
Sustainable Printing
How we’re doing our bit for the environment
By supporting responsible forestry and carbon offsetting schemes, we try our best to reduce our emissions wherever possible.
Carbon Capture Scheme
Helping reduce impact
through carbon capture
We help our clients reduce environmental impacts by implementing a carbon capture scheme, where paper used in print can be carbon balanced, making the material in the products carbon neutral.
The CO2 emitted in the paper process is calculated and the carbon capture cost is provided to us by the paper merchant. That amount is then paid directly to the Woodland Trust for use on certified woodland carbon sites. We do not deduct any charges at all from that amount.
What happens next?
Verified support for woodland carbon sites
This means the work we produce through the scheme can carry The Woodland Trust Carbon Capture logo.
FSC® Certification
Supporting Responsible Forestry for better print choices
Built on independent standards, the Forest Stewardship Council® helps ensure forests are managed in ways that respect people, nature, and future generations
At Hickling & Squires, we are FSC® certified (FSC-C010032) and offer papers made from recycled materials. This demonstrates our commitment to responsible printing, supporting responsible forestry and environmental responsibility.
What this means for your print

Solar investment
Investing in a more efficient future
As part of our continued commitment to reducing our environmental impact, we have invested in solar panels at our factory. By generating more of our own electricity on site, we are taking practical steps to lower energy consumption from non-renewable sources and improve the long-term efficiency of our operation.
This investment forms part of a wider approach to responsible manufacturing at Hickling & Squires. Alongside our work with FSC® certified papers and carbon capture schemes, it reflects our focus on making meaningful improvements wherever we can.
We are always looking at ways to operate more efficiently, reduce waste and make more responsible choices across our production environment - helping us support both our customers and the wider environment.
